Why Should I Participate In Technology User Studies?
With Q Analysts participation in technology user studies, you are making a direct impact on the inclusivity of the products and services we use every day.
Why do you ask demographic questions on your surveys?
Diversity is imperative to tech user studies, so many of them have demographic requirements. We ask these questions in order to ensure we are collecting diverse data.
How do I sign up for a study?
You can either signup as a general participant and be contacted about all studies you qualify for by clicking HERE or go to the Active Studies page and register for a specific study
What if I’m not tech savvy?

What if I have a disability?
Sometimes our studies have specific physical requirements, but all studies are different. A Q Analysts participation representative will discuss study requirements with you once you register.
Where do studies take place?
The location of the study (whether remote or in-person) is listed when you register. Many of our in-person studies happen at the Q Analysts Kirkland Q TestLab at 825 5th Ave. Kirkland, Wa. 98033. Some studies may be done fully remotely.
Can my child participate?
Studies that are for 18 and older, but we occasionally host studies requiring minors. Please register your child as a participant, and we will be in touch when they qualify.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What can I expect when I arrive at the lab?
You will be checked in for your Q Analysts participation and required to don a provided KN95 mask. You may be asked study related questions and sign additional paperwork. Each study has its own protocols, so once you are taken to the study lab, you will be provided with instructions on the study.
Should I bring anything to the study?
We often ask participants to bring additional clothing or accessories. Your study coordinator will inform you of any requirements.
What should I wear to my study?
Aim to be comfortable and wear clothing and footwear that you can move in. If there are additional clothing requirements, your study coordinator will inform you.
Can I bring someone with me?
Q Analysts participation is typically scheduled for a study ahead of time, but we often have no-shows, which will free up a time slot. Please call your study coordinator ahead of time and ensure there is space available.
Can I bring my child with me to my study?
Studies require your full attention, so children are not allowed. If you do bring your child, we will reschedule for a future date.
Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed, but accommodations can be made for service animals. Please contact your study coordinator ahead of time if you need to bring a service animal.
What if I have to cancel or reschedule?
In order to backfill your timeslot, please allow minimum of 24 business hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
What happens if I am coming down with a cold or feeling under the weather?
Given the close proximity of the studies, please reschedule if you are feeling sick.
If my child is under 18 participating in a project do I need to stay with them?
If your child is 16+, they can participate without a parent present. All necessary consent forms need to be signed by the parent prior to participation.
I fill out surveys for studies, but I am rarely selected. Why is that?
Our studies are demographic driven (race, ethnicity, age, gender, etc.), and everyone has different requirements. You will be contacted for the studies that you qualify for.
I signed up a while ago but still haven't been contacted about a study, why is that?
Sometimes study requirements change, or the velocity slows down, which can delay scheduling. If you are eager to register, please reach out to your study coordinator for more information.

How will I be paid for my study?

How much do I get paid to participate?
Gratuity amounts vary depending on the duration and complexity of the project. On average, we pay $50/hr for studies that are completed.
How long after I participate do I get paid?
Do I get compensated when I refer a friend or family member to a study?
Yes! Every person you refer that completes their first study earns you $25. We also run referral contests where you can be entered to win additional compensation.
Am I required to fill out a W9 and provide my Social Security number to participate?
We do not require a W9 for the first $400 you earn in a calendar year. We are required to report earnings over $600 so once you reach the $400 threshold you will be required to submit a W9 prior to participating in another study.
